Children's Day in Portugal dedicated to the sea
The Municipio de Peniche, the City Hall of Peniche south of Lisbon dedicated this year Children's Day 1 June to the sea
In cooperation with the Year of the Dolphin 2007 and with the support of many schools of the Council and their 3-5 years old pupils, Peniche’s Veterinarian Doctor and YoD supporter Ana Vieira da Silva collected a series of drawings, paintings and other works made by the children.
The themes of the artworks focussed on sustainable fisheries, protection of dolphins and the impact of global warming on those species. They were exhibited on Children’s Day during a big party given by the Municipio de Peniche with music, clowns, singers, telling sea stories, face painting about sea animals, and other funny games.
Information material on the Year of the Dolphin such as postcards and posters were distributed to more than 900 children, teachers and families who visited this event.
