Kangaroo Island Dolphin Forum - an invitation to participate in a global on-line webcast!

During the International Year of the Dolphin, Kangaroo Island Community Education’s KI Dolphin Watch in collaboration with project partners, the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society hosted a three day showcase of science and technology.
On Wednesday August 15th, 2007, a global online event focusing on the conservation and protection of dolphins was hosted from Kingscote, Kangaroo Island in South Australia. Presenters from four continents joined along with an online audience comprising students, teachers and interested organisations and individuals from around the world. The Kangaroo Island Dolphin Watch Coordinator, WDCS dolphin scientists from Australasia and Scotland, a conservation biologist from the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, California, and the coordinator of the Year of the Dolphin Campaign delivered presentations on their activities.

The event provided opportunities to extend and deepen the understanding of dolphins exploring their biology, species status, research being undertaken, conservation strategies and local and global programmes. The online community participated in these interactive presentations, discussions and chat with leading dolphin scientists and experts located across the globe.
