The Bonn Convention supports the premiere of "DOLPHINS AND WHALES 3D: TRIBES OF THE OCEAN" (13th March 2008)
At close quartersthe audience gets the chance to observe the last surviving nomads of the ocean.The film will be released at Cinemagnum 3D-Theatres in Berlin, Nuremberg undSinsheim, beginning on February the 13th March 2008. It will also be shown infurther digital 3D-Theatres nationwide. Due to the compelling IMAX(R) cinematechnology and the first stereoscopic pictures taken, the film allows theaudience to experience the life and the wildlife habitat like it has never donebefore. Come within touching distance of dolphins and Beluga Whales. Witnessthe love of a mother for her calf. Experience - and listen to the sound of -male humpback whales at close range. Encounter the biggest dolphin, the killerwhale, king of the ocean, as well as the gentle Manatee. The documentary dealswith the preservation of these animals in a very passionate way. The filmbrings the audience on a close encounter with cetaceans great and small, forexample the humpback whale, the orcas and other dolphins. It took more than 3years to catch the takings of DOLPHINS AND WHALES 3D: TRIBES OF THE OCEAN.Filming, which began in June 2004, required no less than 12 expeditions and 600hours submerged.
“DOLPHINSAND WHALES 3D: TRIBES OF THE OCEAN” was produced by 3D Entertainment andMcKinney Underwater Productions. In Germany the film can be rented from the 3DEntertainment-Rental Department in cooperation with Fantasia Film and theUnited Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and the Convention on theConservation of Migratory Species (CMS).
CMS, also known as the BonnConvention, is the only UN-Convention conserving dolphins and whales on their migrationroutes between their feeding grounds and the areas in which they give birth toand raise their calves.
CMS’srole is that of a global agent with the goal of reducing and mitigating threatsto these animals and their habitats throughout the world’s oceans and rivers.
Inresponse to the plight of these animals, CMS raises awareness of the endangeredstatus of the global marine ecosystem. Through international agreements, CMSactively supports the conservation of these marine mammals throughout the world’soceans.
