YoD 2007 picture story "Belfino the Bottlenose Dolphin"
"Belfino-The Bottlenose Dolphin" is a debut children's story for both its collaborators: the author as well as the illustrator. It aims to create awareness about the threats faced by dolphins as a result of by-catch, destructive methods of fishing and rise of commercial fisheries. It is educational and encourages its young readers to learn more about dolphins through a quiz at the end.
Ms. Shivani Kapadia, from Mumbai, India, is a
graduate in Chemistry and hopes to protect the environment by becoming an
advisor at Industrial level. She keeps herself abreast with recent developments
in Environmental Science by regularly attending seminars and conferences. She
has keen interest in art and likes to draw and paint during her leisure time. She has drawn the illustrations for the Belfino-Story.
Mr. Kartik Shah, also from Mumbai, is a graduate
in Botany. He aspires to become a distinguished botanist-ecologist. He is
passionate about protecting the environment and conserving biodiversity of
plants as well as animals. He likes interacting with young adults and enjoys his
job as a private tutor. He loves travelling, writing and reads extensively to
keep himself and his students updated.
